The challenge
Efficient lifting solution for demanding operating conditions in the glass industry
The customer requirements posed particular challenges for the development of an efficient lifting solution. The task was to design a small, compact device with a low overall height that meets the customer’s specific spatial and functional requirements. This called for the development of a tailor-made solution that integrates seamlessly into the operational processes.
Another key issue was the application in the glass industry, a sector where the high-temperature working environments add additional complexity. Special design considerations were required to withstand the elevated temperatures. Precise and careful positioning of the moulding equipment was crucial to ensure both safety and operational efficiency, thereby optimally supporting the production process.

The project
Success Factor: Teamwork – From Concept to Production Readiness in 10 Months
Close collaboration among all stakeholders and departments, including R&D, the project team, purchasing, and sales, was essential. Prototype testing was carried out as a joint project between Emhart Glass and JDN, enabling effective, agile project work. This close cooperation allowed technical challenges to be resolved quickly, and the time to market was impressive—only 10 months passed from the initial discussion to the first series delivery.
A stable supply chain was implemented to provide a tailor-made, market-ready solution. The robust supply chain supports Emhart’s production process and ensures a sustainable business through a long-term partnership with close collaboration.
The solution
Custom JDN Mini for Optimal Space Utilization and Safety
To meet these challenges, a JDN Mini was specifically developed according to the customer’s requirements. The result is a compact assembly that eliminates the need for a chain bearing and ensures efficient use of space. Special attention was given to tailoring the solution to the customer’s specific needs. In addition, all relevant safety and risk management aspects were carefully incorporated into the design. This was done in close alignment with the customer’s specifications to ensure maximum safety and functionality.
