Neuhaus (JDN) and ElectroMech have successfully delivered and commissioned a new hoisting solution to a leading cement manufacturer in India – one of the largest players in the industry worldwide. The company has a production capacity exceeding 175 million tons and specializes in grey cement, ready-mix concrete, and white cement.
ElectroMech is a global material handling company offering advanced, customized solutions across 60 countries, with major manufacturing hubs and an exclusive partnership with JDN in India for pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
The challenge
Hoisting Solutions for Cement Plants – Meeting Space, Safety, and Reliability Challenges
Typical cement plants has following challenges:
- High dust levels and elevated temperatures
- Limited headroom and tight spaces at key installation points
- Need for robust, safe, and reliable hoisting solutions capable of handling heavy loads in confined areas
These factors require a custom approach that overcomes space and environmental constraints without compromising performance or safety.
At one of the oldest cement plants (operational since 1980), the legacy “JDN B612” hoists had been used reliably for decades during critical maintenance, such as removing and reinstalling rollers from the coal mill. Although still functional, the hoist had reached the end of its service life.
The project
Collaborative Site Assessment and Customer Engagement
ElectroMech’s team conducted a detailed site visit and assessed the plant’s structural layout. They identified that any replacement hoist must fit into the limited headroom and spatial constraints while meeting the plant’s operational demands.
To build customer confidence, ElectroMech, together with JDN’s International Sales Manager and Service Manager, visited the customer’s headquarters. This engagement strengthened trust and allowed detailed discussions about product capabilities and ongoing project support.
The solution
Tailored Hoisting Solution for Cement Challenging Environment
Collaborating closely, JDN developed a fully customized hoisting solution:
- JDN Air Hoist PROFI 3 TI with LNF, 12 tons capacity
- Designed specifically to fit the limited space and headroom at the site
- Engineered for robustness and safety in dusty, high-temperature environments
ElectroMech delivered and commissioned the hoist successfully for immediate use during maintenance. This tailored solution ensures reliable performance and low maintenance costs, expected to serve the plant for the next 30 to 40 years under demanding conditions.
