The challenge

Safe propeller removal in confined conditions

During scheduled maintenance in the dry dock, one of the critical tasks was to remove a ship’s propeller—a component weighing several tons and playing a crucial role in the vessel’s propulsion system.

The operation had to be carried out in a tight and restricted workspace, where space is limited and every movement must be carefully calculated. In such situations, ensuring the highest level of safety and precision is crucial, especially when handling such heavy and valuable equipment.

The project

Safe lifting of heavy loads directly at the ship hull

To perform the removal efficiently and safely, JDN pneumatic hoists were mounted directly on the ship’s hull structure. These hoists were responsible for lifting and maneuvering the propeller with a high level of precision.

The project required equipment that could not only handle the extreme load but also provide precise control to ensure smooth and even operation in a confined space. Any sudden or uncontrolled movement could have caused damage or safety hazards—both of which had to be avoided.

The solution

The perfect solution for demanding lifting tasks in maritime operations.

The use of JDN pneumatic hoists proved to be the ideal solution for this demanding task. Their robust construction guaranteed reliability, even under the harsh conditions of shipyard operation. In contrast to electrical systems, pneumatic hoists work without producing sparks, making them safe even in hazardous environments. Since they are not reliant on electricity, they can also be used in areas where power supply is limited or electrical safety is an issue.

However, the most important thing is that the operators were able to carry out the task with complete control and confidence thanks to the smooth and precise handling. This project clearly shows how pneumatic hoists contribute to safe, efficient, and controlled operation – even under the most demanding maritime conditions.
