The challenge
Hoisting in a Robust Blowout-Preventer (BOP) area
For the expansion of a geothermal drilling site, Marokopa Drilling needed a safe, precise and reliable lifting solution for the Blowout-Preventer (BOP) area. The project posed several challenges:
- Explosion-hazardous zone (Zone 1)
- High temperatures and a harsh geothermal environment
- Limited space
- Tight timeline
The solution had to be robust, quickly deployable, and fully reliable under extreme conditions.
The project
JDN hoists for the expansion of a geothermal drilling rig
Marokopa Drilling had already successfully used our lifting solutions in other projects and trusted our expertise. For the geothermal drilling rig, we worked closely with our local partner Pacific Hoists Ltd. to understand the specific site requirements.
Pacific Hoists managed on-site coordination, technical specifications and logistics, while we ensured timely delivery of the hoists. Thanks to smooth collaboration and clear communication between Marokopa Drilling, Pacific Hoists, and J.D. Neuhaus, the project was executed efficiently and met all safety and scheduling demands.
The solution

The solution involved our air-operated JDN BOP hoists, specifically designed for challenging environments such as geothermal drilling sites. Key benefits included:
